Most of us as residents of Elliot Lake have been subjected to a very traumatic experience.
Some of you have just moved here others have been here forever and raised families and saw the town boom and bust and change from a mining community to a Retirement Living community.
Myself I was here before the town.
The mall collapse was very traumatic as my friends barely made it out the door as it collapsed , my wife had been there a couple of days before and mentioned the non functional escalator and the pails below. She has bad knees and a poor ankle , so , no escalator is a serious issue.
My personal agony on that property began a long time ago , when as an EMCA , I picked up a little boy with his hands tied behind his back and his head crushed with stones . That child should be included with the mall memorial as it was a terrible tragedy , an innocent life extinguished at the hands of playmates.
I don't know how many people in the community were aware about what happened , but like with everything else some decision makers set the rules and time erodes and erases the traces.
Someone asked on one of my blogs who pays me to do this , who appointed me as Lord of Elliot Lake , why do I hate them , its' all garbage I should read it ?....P.S. I wrote it...it's a rant !

Some people I like some I don't and it is reciprocal
When I pay $200 Dollars to get a slow leak fixed , I have no qualms about venting my frustrations
When the roof caves in and a Dumas who may or may not be a relative dies , I will go the whole nine yards "One For All and All For One ! "
This Elliot Lake Mall Inquiry Synopsis is not based on facts evidence proof , it is simply the way I perceive things and I leave it all open for discussion , reflection ,meditation.
I would like to think that impartility and stupidity are not my key characteristics and the perception of impartial inquiry initiated by a government implicated in a class action lawsuit eludes me.
When a crew from Toronto tells me the whole mall will collapse at any moment , I just know that a nuclear bomb did not just drop. When I stand aside speaking with a truly dedicated guy from International Rescue and he tells me " I am here from Ottawa with my equipment , I was at Hurricane Kathrina , I was all over the world and I am here at my own expense and I want to save lives even if it costs me my own " . I think he knows something I know , someone is there dying ,trapped in rubble , something must be done ! ...THEY WOULD NOT LET HIM IN To SAVE A LIFE..
They is whom ? Of course we need guidelines and order ,we cannot permit chaos and someone has to take charge. Taking charge at the expense of a human life, giving up on a rescue mission , this is where I part company and this is where most miners would part company as well as most northerners.
The dangerous Killer Mall did collapse and did kill people , however the collapse only occured in one section and the rest was demolished by equipment.
When the Rescue Mission was abandoned people were distraught and late in the evening everybody clapped when It was announced that they were going back to work , What was not clarified was they were going back to prepare for demolition. Portable toilets were brought in , and it seemed that they were setting up tents and measuring for a road. What was going on was difficult to determine.
Food for thought : Would the Inquiry be more favorable before or after the class action lawsuits , being that the Government of Ontario is one of the accused .
The OPP had a criminal Investigation and evidence could not be divulged because of the legal battles. Perhaps the Inquiry should be set aside until legal cases have been resolved.
Personaly I do not see the legitamacy of the Inquiry because it is initiated by a government being sued in a class action and the leader stepped down and prorogued the government.
I am not a politician tell me what's wrong here ?

Everybody in town new the mall would collapse,

The courts can resolve the rest , save the Inquiry funds for
the peolpe seeking payment for their damages and for having lost their business ,their livelyhood , and having lost everything they have. Sufficient evidence will come from the court cases to determine what really happened.
I can almost predict how it will go :the province is protected under sovereign immunity so it is not liable. Bankrupt companies are protected by the bankcrucy act . the taxpayers dish out a couple of million for an inquiry and life goes on.
